Celeste Nicholson, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS

As a kid growing up in Oak Ridge Tennessee, I played almost every sport and enjoyed outdoor activities such as snowboarding and kayaking. After needing physical therapy for different sports injuries (ACL repairs, fractures, sprains) I knew that I wanted to be a physical therapist by the time I was a senior in high school. While playing tennis at Division 2 Bellarmine University and then at Division 1 University of Tennessee Chattanooga, I earned my undergraduate degrees in Biology and Rehabilitation Science.

I earned my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at UTC in 2010. Because of my background in sports, I focused my early career on treating athletes and the active population, which is why I am a Sports Clinical Specialist and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Now almost 14 years into my career, I have developed a broader understanding of activity. While I still enjoy treating competitive athletes of all levels, I also appreciate the importance of helping everyone achieve the highest quality of active life they can. And I love helping them get there. I have served the broader Asheville communities for 13 years and I have communicated with a lot of the doctors in this area.

Healthcare has changed a lot since I started out, but my passion for helping people hasn’t changed. I am so excited to work for Physio because it’s really unique to find one-on-one care and to build a personalized connection between patient and therapist.

Outside of work, you can find me squeezing in short runs along the French Broad or my neighborhood in Weaverville or doing various activities with my husband and our two kids.
