Samuel Santos, PT, DPT, Physical Therapist

I grew up in Red Bank, NJ, which was 15 minutes away from the beach. During my summers I would bike to the beach with friends or roam the streets of Red Bank. Besides Red Bank, I also spent multiple childhood years in Portugal with my extended family. Life was different there as I was balancing my time with living in a smaller city and a farm. I moved to Asheville in February 2023 with my wife and have been enjoying it since. Physical therapy is my second career; my first was payroll, HR, and finance and I received my BA in Economics from Ramapo College in NJ, which I applied as Director of Payroll for various companies over five years before switching fields. I always knew I didn't enjoy sitting behind a desk but instead enjoyed a more hands-on job that involved helping others. I went on to complete my DPT with Rutgers University in Newark New Jersey. During that time I completed 4 clinical rotations, one of which I worked under multiple physical therapists who were orthopedic specialists and were all officers in the United States Public Health Services.

"The pain you feel today is the strength you have tomorrow."

I am a physical therapist who specializes in neck and lower back pains, shoulder issues, total knee replacements as well as general or specific conditioning. My goal is to help patients be able to live as functionally as possible and decrease their pain so they can tackle whatever they want in life.

I enjoy working at Physio because my co-workers are great people and are all supportive!

You can usually find me doing home projects and spending time with my wife. We typically go hiking once a week or as often as we can. We both train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, with myself achieving the rank of purple belt. I also love spending a lot of time with my dog, Kaylee. If I have some free time, you can catch me playing Xbox or Dungeons and Dragons with some friends. Lastly, I try to stay as physically fit as possible, weight lifting 2-3 times a week and training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 3-4 times a week.
